GETTING STARTED
How can my child receive services at NHPT?
New Heights Pediatric Therapy (NHPT) accepts referrals from parents, pediatricians, early interventionists, and other health professionals.
Does my child need a prescription (RX) for services?
Yes. We encourage families to talk to their pediatrician regarding any concerns regarding development and ask them to fax a prescription to our office to start the referral process. Our fax number is (803) 881-3534. If you would like assistance in requesting a prescription, please call our office and we would be more than happy to help.
Can I transfer services from another company?
Yes! If your child is currently receiving services somewhere else or has been seen by another company in the past, we can transfer services once a discharge summary has been provided to us. In some cases, the child’s most recent evaluation or progress report may be required as well. If you would like assistance in retrieving these documents, please call our office and we would be more than happy to help.
What types of payment do you accept?
Currently, we accept BabyNet, Medicaid, Tri-Care, and private pay.
What do I need before scheduling?
- Referral for Services (from parent, pediatrician, early interventionist, or other health professional.)
- Prescription (RX) from pediatrician
- Completed Intake Paperwork (sent by NHPT)
- Photocopy of Insurance Card
- Discharge Summary & Evaluation Report from previous therapy company (*if requested)
What can I expect once my child is scheduled?
At your first appointment, an evaluation will be completed to determine if your child qualifies for services. Your therapist will complete an assessment and collect information from you including your child’s medical history and your primary concerns. After the evaluation, your therapist will go over the results, determine if authorizations from insurance are necessary, and discuss the next steps for moving forward such as scheduling, frequency of sessions, and the process for future communication.
How often will my child have therapy sessions?
Each situation is unique, however, most sessions are scheduled for a recurring day and time weekly and last 30-60 minutes. This amount of time also includes time for setup, clean up, caregiver education, and time for the therapist to complete documentation. In some cases, a therapist may recommend a different frequency for sessions (i.e. twice weekly, bi-weekly, etc). If you are unable to commit to a recurring day or time, please talk to your therapist about the option of week-to-week scheduling.
Do you have after-school times available?
After school therapy times are limited and highly sought after. Please call our office to ask about our current availability. If there are no available after school times, we are happy to schedule your child during an alternative time and provide a school excuse document as needed or place your child on our waitlist until a better time comes available. You can also request to be placed on a week-to-week scheduling rotation with one of our therapists while you are waiting for an after school time.
