What is occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy (OT) helps people of all ages have the best quality of life by encouraging independence with daily tasks through meaningful activities and functional goals.
What is an "occupation" ?
An occupation is an every day activity that occupies your time by bringing purpose and meaning.
Do children have occupations?
Yes! Of course they do. Some of the occupations that children hold are:
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, personal hygiene, etc
- Rest & Sleep
- Education
- Play Exploration & Participation
- Social Participation
Does my child need OT?
Occupational therapy examines a wide variety of skills and each child is unique in their own way which is why we strive to provide every client with an individualized plan of care. If your child is struggling at home or at school, please review our list of “Red Flags for OT” below to determine if now is the right time to seek out an OT referral.
